20th Anniversary Year

Bishop Michael Evans Dies

Bishop Michael Evans
The Rt Revd Michael Evans, the Roman Catholic Bishop of East Anglia, died at Norwich and Norfolk Hospital on the evening of Monday 11 July. He was aged 59 and had been suffering from prostae cancer for a number of years. Earlier in 2011 Bishop Michael had announced that he had been given only weeks to live. In the event he lived for longer than he had expected, seeking to serve his people until very near the end. You can read more about Bishop Michael by clicking here.

The people associated with Churches Together in Suffolk express their deep sympathy to their Roman Catholic friends.

Living Wage Campaign

Church Action on Poverty are asking churches to pay their employees not the minimum wage, but a Living Wage, of at least £7.20 per hour (outside London), which is enough to keep people out of poverty and not reliant on in-work benefits.

Churches Together in Suffolk unites in pilgrimage those Churches in Suffolk which, acknowledging God's revelation in Christ, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures, and, in obedience to God's will and in the power of the Holy Spirit, commit themselves:

  1. to seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another in the Church,
    which is his body; and

  2. to fulfill their mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness and service in the world;

  3. to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Churches Together in Suffolk is a member of Churches Together in England.
We are known as one of the "intermediate bodies" (ie a county-level grouping).
